Wednesday, June 1, 2016 was the first day of the second in our series of GET modules. Donna opened by reviewing the Overview of Entrepreneurship module and continued with a discussion of essential skills. This included identifying essential skills in both themselves and the Apprentices. Essential skills include: motivation, attitude, organization and persistence. For the practical component, we reviewed pricing models, including labor hours, shipping cost and time invested, and import taxes. Using newly designed products from sewing, we tested the pricing model.
Finally, in preparation for the New World Craft Show this fall, the GET team created their own elevator speech: “Somos las manos que hacemos los productos para vender y manejamos el negocio y con las ganancias nos ayudamos a nosotras y al Hogar. En 20 años, es el primer programa auto-suficiente del Hogar Nuestra Señora de los Remedios.”
In English: “We are the hands that make the products to sell and run the business and with the earnings, we help ourselves and the Home. In 20 years, we are the first self-sufficient program of the Casa Hogar.
